This Saturday, May 24 LRS Waste Services Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge Kicks-off

This Saturday, May 24, The Summit Racing Equipment United States Modified Touring Series returns to Deer Creek Speedway. It will be the LRS Waste Services Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge.

Fifteen years ago on May 29, 2010, the annual Memorial Day weekend racing tradition continued on. The United States Touring Series Modifieds made their annual trek to Deer Creek Speedway. It was another edition of the Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge.

There were 53-modifieds signed in to tackle the high banks of “Southern Minnesota’s Speed Plant”. Heat races were topped by Tim Donlinger, Ryan Ruter, Colt Mather, Mark Dotson, Nate Wasmund and Rodney Sanders. Tommy Weder Jr. and Ryan Gustin won the two B-mains.

Pole-sitter Ryan Ruter took off and opened up a big lead until a flat tire forced a yellow flag and a trip to the pits for Ruter. Jason Krohn took the lead and led the next six laps before Tim Donlinger would take over the point. Donlinger led the rest of the 40-lap race to score the $2000 win and a $400 winner’s bonus from Hanson Tire.

Krohn would hang on to second over Kelly Shryock in third. Zack Vanderbeek blasted from 25th to fourth and Ryan Gustin drove from 15th to fifth. Nate Wasmund, Mike Sorensen, Tommy Myer, Rodney Sanders and Jacob Dahle would finish out the top ten.
