Spring Valley, MN (August 21)

This week at Deer Creek Speedway was First Responder Night. All First Responders and a guest received free admission courtesy of Casey’s General Stores. Also helping present the program was Hawkins Ash C.P.A.s, St. Ansgar American Legion Post 358, Randy 7 Sandy Norby along with J&S-JCB.

The USRA B-Mod kicked off the feature action and 26-cars took the green flag for their 18-lap race. Pole sitter Brandon Hare took the early lead with Kullen Kath in second. Jim Chisholm charged from eighth to challenge Kath on lap five.

Chisholm wrestled the spot away from Kath on lap five and set after Hare. Chisholm scooted to the lead, but a yellow flag negated the pass. On the start Chisholm once again challenged Hare for the lead. On lap 11 Chisholm used the high groove in turn two to take the lead, but once again the yellow came out to give the lead back to Hare.

Chisholm was not going to be denied when on the restart he quickly darted to the lead and led the rest of the way ninth win of the year and 18th overall. Hare finished second ahead of a great race for third.

Alex Schubbe came out of that battle in third with Joe Chisholm fourth while Dustin Kruse stormed from 16h to fifth at the checkered flag.

Marcus Berndt slipped past Ryan Jacobsen to led early on in the Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Jason Newkirk got to third but Kory Adams was the car to watch when he bolted from 13th to fifth in four laps. Berndt led until lap six when Braden Brauer worked his way past , Jacobsen, Ross Spitzer, Jason Newkirk and then Berndt to take the lead.

Brauer drove away for his eighth win of the season and 14th of the season. Behind him was a nip and tuck battle for second. Four cars battled it out in a two and sometimes a three wide tussle. Nick Schwebach would take second with Adams third, Spitzer fourth and Berndt fifth.

Twenty-one Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds had some bonus money on the line this week. Blake Adams of A-14 Suspensions added and extra $150 to the winner with an extra $100 going to the second and third place finishers.

Patrick McCarthy led from row one while Jacob Toepper and Cory Asmussen raced for second. Dylan Goettl used the low groove to take third and then slipped to the lead but a caution came out before the lap was complete to put McCarthy back in the lead.

It did not take Goettl long to take the lead on the restart. Goettl then opened up a lead while Kadden Kath worked to second. There was a super race for third with McCarthy, Jacob Toepper, Asmussen, Mitch Weiss and Ryan Goergen.

A caution on lap 15 wiped out Goettl’s lead and also was his undoing. Kath stole the lead on the start and Weiss was up to third. Another yellow came out on lap 16 and during the caution race officials noticed the Goettl’s rear suspension was broke and his race was over.

Kath held on for his second win in a row with Weiss a close second. Toepper had his best run of the year in third as did McCarthy in fourth while Asmussen also got his first top five.

Brandon Clemens took off from row one to lead the WISSOTA Super Stock main event. Brandon Duellman quickly drove to second and brought Ryan Wiome along to third. Clemens had opened up a big lead, but Duellman rapidly reeled him in.

Duellman took the lead before a yellow flag came out on lap seven. Wiome snapped past Clemens on the start and then hung with Duellman for the lead. Clemens would spin on lap 14 to trigger the caution lights.

Wiome challenged Duellman briefly, but Duellman sailed on for his fourth win of the year. Wiome finished second with Kevin Hager, Dennis Dunbar and David Miller in the top five.

The Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds had Lucas Schott and Alex Williamson on row one for the 25-lap finale. Schott took off with Williamson right on him. Schott opened up a big lead but his race would soon end.

Schott tried to put James Parker a lap down but Parker got loose and the two made contact. The result a damage to the right side of Schott’s car that flattened the right rear tire to end his race.

Williamson assumed the lead, but Dustin Sorensen was on the fly from eighth and sat second with Josh Angst and David Baxter behind them eith Zack Vanderbeek fifth. On the start, Vanderbeek used the low groove and drove to second.

Vanderbeek set his sights on Williamson just as the caution came out on lap 10. That set up a wild restart when Sorensen charged to the lead in turn two. Williamson returned the favor in turn three. Sorensen blew back by to take the lead, while Vanderbeek was in second to complete lap 15.

Jake Timm raced from 11th to fourth and now was in the mix with the leaders. Sorensen led while the lead pack sliced through lapped traffic. Timm spun on lap 22 for the final caution and that set up a three lap dash to the finish.

Sorensen held off Vanderbeek for his fifth win this season. Williamson ended up in third while Angst was fourth. Cory Crapser quietly came from the 12th slot to crack the top five.
