Spring Valley, MN (June 6)

The 25th Anniversary season finally took place after a two-month delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However while the races took place, the program was run without fans in attendance.

A solid field of 100-cars signed in for the five division program. Rain showers and a wild lightning show from Mother Nature dotted the show, but the program was able to be completed with just a slight delay.

The USRA B-Mods were up first for their 18-lap main event. Alex Schubbe and Eric Thill were in row one for the green flag. It took four attempts to finally get the first lap completed.

Schubbe took the lead and then went three wide with Jim Chisholm and Parker Hale. Noah Grinstead was close behind and challenged Chisholm for third. Schubbe led and then Chisholm, Grinstead and Hale were three abreast for second.

Chisholm slipped to second and then took the lead on lap three. Schubbe raced back alongside Chisholm and took the lead back on lap five. Jett Sorensen had moved from tenth to the top five and then took over fourth.

The top four were close at this point. Hale snagged second from Chisholm but then spun to bring out a caution. Schubbe also dropped off the speedway during the caution. This handed the lead to Chisholm on the restart.

Chisholm led the remainder of the race to take the win. Dustin Kruse made a late race charge from the 11th spot to finish a strong second. Sorensen ended his good run in third while Grinstead and Thill rounded out the top five.

Nineteen WISSOTA Street Stocks took the green for their 18-lap feature led by Braden Brauer and Brittany Smith. Brauer surged to the lead while Smith had her hands full with Nick Schwebach. Zach Elward moved from seventh to fourth in the eary stages of the race.

Brauer continued to lead while Schwebach took second and Elward went to third. A yellow on lap five slowed the field and on the restart Elward drove to second. The top three were close on lap six while Danny Richards was up to fourth. Elward stole second and set his sights on Brauer for the lead. Elward used the mid groove to challenge and then took the lead on lap nine.

After that Brauer kept it close for a while but Elward zoomed to the win and the clean sweep. Brauer would finish second with Schwebach third. Richards wound up in fourth and Kory Adams was fifth.

Things got hectic up front early in the 18-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Front row starters Ryan Goergen and Kylie Kath were joined by Mitch Weiss and they drove three wide for the lead. Kath took the point while Goergen and Weiss battled for second.

Something happened to Goergen and Spencer Stock clipped him to being out the yellow. Goergen went to the back, but he was far from done. On the start, Weiss and Kath duked it out for the lead. Weiss took over, but Kath threw a wicked slider to retake the lead but that was negated by a yellow flag on lap eight.

Sprinkles started to fall and lightning lit up the sky when the race went back to green flag conditions. Weiss took off and led the rest of the way for the win. David Swearingen finished in second while Kobie Kat had his best run when he beat his brother Kylie for third. Goergen rallied from going to the tail and finished in fifth.

Rookie Braden Brauer was flanked alongside his dad Jeff to make up row one for the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Jeff Brauer bolted to the lead while Dylan Kromschroeder moved to second. Kromschroeder pulled alongside Brauer and took the lead on lap four.

Neil Eckhart worked the low groove and slipped to third on the fifth lap. Eckhart then closed in on the lead duo to make it a three car race. Eckhart’s machine was glued to the low side and drove past Brauer for second on the ninth circuit.

Eckhart then looked to pass Kromschroeder to the lead. Kromschroeder go pinned behind a slower car and Eckhart stole the lead. A caution came out on lap 13 and the sprinkle began to fall again along with a great lightning show from Mother Nature.

The race for the lead heated up on the restart. Kromschroeder drove to the outside of Eckhart  and reclaimed the lead on lap 16. Eckhart took one more shot on the final lap but came up short behind Kromschroeder. Brauer finished in third with Dustin Nelson and Tommy Richards in the top five.

Jacob Bleess and Jake Timm sat one row one for the 25-lap USRA Modified feature. Sprinkles continued to fall along with the light show in the sky when the field took the green flag. Timm jumped to the lead followed by Bleess while Brandon Davis took third. Jason Cummins worked into the fourth spot while Lucas Schott and Josn Angst battled for fifth.

Cummins got to third and Dustin Sorensen had driven up to fifth. A caution on lap five tightened the pack up. On the restart, Bleess used the low groove to take the lead from timm. Davis got back around Cummins for third. Schott bolted past Cummins for fourth.

Davis ran the low groove to get past Timm for second on lap nine. Schott then challenged Timm for third just as the yellow flag came out on lap 10. When the green came back out Timm stormed past Davis for second, but Davis returned the favor one lap later. Another yellow slowed the pace and set up another restart.

Timm again got by Davis for second, but Davis again too kthe position back on lap 14. Bleess extended his lead a bit and Schott had passed Timm for third. Davis and Schott then reeled in Bleess and the top three were close with five laps to go.

Bleess got caught behind a slower car and Davis snagged the lead on lap 23. Bleess came right back and got underneath Davis on lap 24 and was the leader once again. Bleess led the final lap to score the win with Davis in second. Schott finished third with Cummins and Sorensen in fourth and fifth.
